As an editorial, fashion, commercial photographer, he has worked with clients domestically and internationally.
Roman specializes in cinematic, edgy glamor; an editorial fashion style that is unpretentious, which he applies toward photo and video projects. His detailed eye, approach and creativity is brought to other work: event, corporate, political, private and artist's projects.
Retouching and color-grading is done in-house, offering professional high-end work. It is as much about what to do, as it is what not to do.
With extensive visual and pro-audio experience, Roman connects his production and post-production backgrounds to every project. Having an eye and mind for the complete project and being well travelled exposing himself to varying cultures, arts and experiences --he brings a unique perspective that is intertwined with being raised and living in NYC..
The work doesn't stop at photography; video-work is something he prides himself in -- fashion reels, interviews, social media blocks, shows, and events all are under the same umbrella -- that is BREAKWAVE CREATIVE.
Early Background
Emigrating as a child from the former Soviet Union, Roman was raised in NYC.
Moving around often made him a reserved voyeur, observing and imagining. In the 90s he was a young adult where the style of the 80s evolved to the gritty realism in film, grunge music and the "supermodel". His experience bridged reality and glamour that now is at the heart of every photo-shoot.
Initially Roman was studying creative writing before going into Media Studies. Eventually, through some interesting circumstances he found himself working as an audio mastering engineer, working with many artists and record labels. This skill-set, tempered approach and creative senses are mutual to both disciplines. The access to creative thinkers, visual-tapestry makers and like-minded people honed some of the skills needed in photography and retouching and especially to video work.
Artist's has always been in his family where aggressive photo-taking with his father every other weekend. Images, albums and great art hanged on the walls of both his family homes and nurtured the healing heart of a broken circumstance.
Creativity, aesthetic, artistry and evocative imagery is the goal of each shoot Roman Vail. He will help you find the voice you want to share and get your images to not only look their best but allow for a "feel" to come across as though out from the image but from within your beautiful eye.
